Virtual Past Places (2024)

In the Virtual Past Places (VPP) project (2022-2024), VR learning environments have been developed, implemented, and evaluated in the context of various courses within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Amsterdam.

For instance, students explored the archaeological excavation site at Satricum, Italy, or visit a Roman triumph procession in 71 AD. These 3D learning environments have been integrated into the course designs of five courses at the University of Amsterdam. They can be experienced via desktop-browsers or Virtual Reality-headsets

My role as a researcher in the project was to analyze the data resulting from the extensive evaluation of each learning environment, using validated questionnaires, focus groups and interviews. These analyses have been (and will be published) in various journals and conference proceedings.
