ximpel 2.0

Posted by on Jun 2, 2010 in multimedia, projects, showcase

As of June, 2010, a new (experimental) version of XIMPEL, the eXtensible Interactive Media Player for Entertainment and Learning (www.ximpel.net), has been released. XIMPEL will be used by 1st year students at VU University to make their own interactive videos during the Project Interactive Media. The new version has been developed by Winoe Bhikharie and me, and offers a new design and new possibilities, for example to integrate YouTube videos in your application. The changes have been based on a project I did for Stichting Upgrade,  involving an interactive video. More information and downloads are available here.

Update: the guest lecture as given by Winoe and me on June 9th can be viewed via the following link.

  1. Wow, great work! I didn’t know you guys were still working on XIMPEL. Maybe I’ll try to make a playlist with youtube videos in the near future. B.t.w. in the new demo I noticed the pause button doesn’t work in the slideshow example (game photos)

  2. Thanks! Yes, we prepared a new version of XIMPEL for the Project Interactive Media course @ VU University. Yes, the pause functionality for images will be fixed in the new release.. Would be cool if you’d make a playlist :) Btw Winoe and I will be giving a guest lecture @ VU Wednesday the 9th of June (=tomorrow), so you’re always welcome to join us :)
